Endogamy- the custom of marrying only within the limits of a local community, clan, or tribe.
Exogamy- The custom of marrying outside a community, clan, or tribe.

Patrillneal- relating to or based on relationship to the father or descent through the male line.
Matrilineal- follow the female bilineal- follow both patriline and the matriline.
Residence after marriage
Patrilocal- living with the family of the husband
Matrilocal- which the couple live with the wife's family
Neolocal- a married couple living together at a new residence.
Authority
Patriarchal- father is the head of the family. matriachal- A woman who rules a family, clan, or tribe.
Equalitarian- equal sharing of authority between mother and father.
Divorce- the legal dissolution of a marriage. legal separation- An arrangement by which a husband and wife remain married but live apart, following a court order.
