Smoking Deviant Behavior

Deviant actions are considered to be behavior from a person that does not fit into the norms that our society holds. I personally agree that smoking is deviant behavior. Smoking is an unhealthy and foolish addiction. Cigarettes contain substances that causes physical and physiological dependence, causing withdrawals to the smokers, making them addicts which do not fit the social norms. A person that is smoking has less successful socialization than a nonsmoker because more and more people can’t stand the smell of smoke and find it disrespectful. Society has already tried to control the smoker's behavior through social control. As in 2017 about fifty percent of the United States have banned smoking 100% in workplaces, restaurants, and bars.
