Smoking Persuasive Speech
assive smoke is when non-smokers are breathing in the smoke that a smoker is smoking. Passive smoking is not good, because non-smokers breathe it in, as well as the smoker, and it is very harmful for the non-smokers as well as the smoker. It is also a huge source of indoor air pollution. Four-fifths of the smoke that builds up in a room with a smoker is the more harmful "sidestream" type. Tobacco smoke has over 4,000 chemical compounds, which includes 40 carcinogenic agents that are cancer-causing. Tobacco smoke also has carbon monoxide, which is a poisonous gas, that inhibits the transportation of someone's oxygen to their body's vital organs via the blood. Also, the smoke that is emitted from the tip of a cigarette has almost double the concentration …show more content…
Also, pregnant women should not be exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke, because it has been estimated that the infants of mothers who smoke, have about five times the risk of dying of "cot death" when compared to the infants of mothers who do not smoke. Also, a poll that was organized by 'SmokeFree London' had stated that only three percent of the adults that were surveyed, knew about the connection between passive smoking, and "cot death". Also, passive smoking could cause pets to get cancer. There was a study in the U.S. that showed that the incidence of feline lymphoma in cats, and the likelihood of them having health problems increased the longer they were exposed to passive smoking. I think that passive smoke should not be allowed in public places, because it is not healthy. I would address someone who was exposing me, a member of my family, or a friend to passive smoke by, telling them that they should not do that, because it is not

I’ve grown up in a time where cannabis has been greatly talked about in positive ways. Some of my friends have used it before and they've told me that it was very beneficial to their mental and physical health. Many people benefit from using this drug and some just enjoy doing it. I feel that people lose some of their personal freedom when they’re not allowed to use cannabis. Im sure that you, a government official, would be concerned about the people's view on marijuana.…

The health consequences of smoking have become evident since early 1960s and numerous techniques to help smokers to become non-smokers have developed. Smoking is the largest preventable cause of cancer, and is responsible for more cancer deaths in Australia. It is also directly responsible for many heart and lung diseases. Smoking has effects on the smoker, as well as those around them. Changing health-risk behaviour has been shown to decrease morbidity and mortality and enhance a better quality of life. This essay aims to describe theories and models that are effective interventions to help the cessation of smoking, and relapses. PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…

Hello I’m Liam Savery and I’m going to talk about drugs, not about how marijuana should be legalised or how other illicit drugs should be allowed in medication, but the access to fairly priced drugs used in medication. Recently in the news a man name Martin Shkreli has been pointed to a lot and has been given the nickname “America’s most hated man” and one would not be considered shitted by the boldness of the nickname. The reason Martin has been in the news is due to the fact that the company he built up recently acquired the rights to the Daraprim drug used to treat toxoplasmosis, which itself is rare but people with weakened immune systems, like AIDS patients rely heavily on it.…

According to the Oxford dictionary of English language, passive smoking is “the involuntary inhaling of smoke from other people 's cigarettes, cigars, or pipes” (Soanes and Stevenson, 2005). The definition given in the dictionary of public health is more precise. It reads that passive (involuntary) smoking is an “exposure to the tobacco smoke of other people. Environmental tobacco smoke consists mainly of side stream smoke containing harmful ingredients, carcinogens, irritants, and toxic substances, and lesser amounts of exhaled smoke” (John, 2007). Even if this definition does not give us exact degree of harm of passive smoking, it clearly has negative effects on health condition and might be the cause of dangerous diseases which…
