Thank You for Smoking is a both fierce and sophisticated satire written by Jason Reitman. The moral of the film is on the matter of cigarettes and cancer and how it is associated with the responsibility of choice. Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckhart) leads as a lobbyist for Big Tobacco who will fight to protect America’s right to smoke -although it may kill him and others. Nick does not take sides in the matter, but rather spins the situation around in which makes all others wrong. Although the realistic acting and satirical style make the movie intriguing to watch, the plot of the movie is irrational.…

In the novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, makes use of satire to undermine the morals and beliefs that are upheld in modern people. By underscoring the follies of everyday people, he reveals the real, sycophantic ways of people, where morals and beliefs are only upheld if the majority believes it also. The fear that people have of being ostracized hinders them to change and defy the majority.…

We first started doing our health campaign on smoking and aimed it on people that were 16 years old and pregnant women. Smoking causes health problems such as several types of cancer which have been broadcasted through advertising and several other campaigns warning people about the repercussions of smoking. There have been many national health strategies to help promote the negative impact of smoking on our health. One campaign is by the NHS called ‘Smoke Free’ which is there to help people stop smoking and give them encouragement to do so. With public health, the Government has decreased the amount of people smoking due to strategies such as not letting people smoke inside public places such as airports and pubs.…

On August 16th, 2015, John Oliver’s news show on HBO, Last Week Tonight, shed a cutting light on religious ministers who devote the majority of the ministry through television broadcasting. Mainly Christian, these ministers, known as “Televangelists”, and can be either official or self-proclaimed ministers that enlist their followers into “seed faith”. Defining this term, Televangelist Rick Warren explains the principal of “seed faith”, or “sowing and reaping” as sending money to his church -“planting the seed”- whenever you might have or ask for a need from God. Given time you will “harvest” the benefits and gain what you originally asked for with blessings (Warren). Oliver, however, has a different view about such prosperity gospels and made…
Primary promotion is based on prevention and is used to prevent the onset of diseases by reducing the risks. This is accomplished by reducing exposure to a particular disease or altering behaviors such as encouraging smoking cessation. In the article entitled,” Primary and secondary tobacco prevention in youth”, the author explains that childhood is a precarious time for children to experiment with tobacco. The nursing profession has made a major impact on primary prevention of tobacco use by providing education in schools, communities, families, and acute patient settings. However there is still much more education which needs to occur. Nurses should rise to the critical task of continuing to provide comprehensive education on primary tobacco prevention for our youth (Tingen, Andrews, & Stevenson,…
People always talk about the innocent lives of human beings and animals being killed/diseased/injured while everybody seems blinded towards fruits, vegetables, and plants when the same things happen to them! The lives of these harmless organisms are never considered while we chow down on salads and apples! The lives of the innocent must be protected!|The solution is simple, banning the consumption and destruction of all vegetables, fruits, and plants. This means that some forms of medicine will be eliminated due to some of the chemicals being extracted from plants but, rest assured that this sacrifice will not go out in vein due to plant-life being saved! Whenever a human, animal, or insect is caught even plucking an apple off of its own home, they will be punished by death, pesticide, or insecticide respectively. There will be monthly searches in everyone’s house in order to ensure that the plants are getting the necessary water, sunlight, and nutrition that they need. If you fail to keep your plants alive, death will be the ultimate punishment. I know that a lot of needed nutrition comes from these precious life forms so; I have created a monopoly on legal, synthetic fruits, vegetables, and even plants! |1.…
Healthy people 2020 objectives related to adolescent is to reduce use of cigarettes use by adolescents by 3.5 percent and the initiation of cigarette use by 2 percent. Another goal would be to reduce the number of adolescents that are exposed to cigarette smoke by 4.5 percent. Statistics from Healthy People 2020 show that in 2008 and 2009 19.5 percent of adolescents were current smokers, 6.3 percent had just begun smoking in the past 12 months, and 45.5 percent of adolescents who do not smoke were exposed to secondhand smoke (Healthy people 2020, 2017). We believe the overall goal for this population is to increase their knowledge of tobacco’s negative effects on their health. The purpose of education on this topic would be to reduce the number of people who use these products, which would increase the population's overall health by helping reduce secondhand smoke exposure.…
Everybody knows that the real problem with illegal drugs is that they cost too much, and they are so difficult to get that drug addicts need to commit crimes in order to feed their habits. If only people could go down to the nearest Seven-Eleven and buy a cocaine-powdered donut, or drive up to the window at McDonald's and order a dank 10-piece marijuana nugget meal. Then people wouldn’t need to knock down an old lady and grab her purse, or commit a home invasion robbery for some extra cheese. People would not be as shady and messed up to others if they could get what they want and need easier (cheaper). There would be less crime and no drug dealers.…

In a perfect world, eliminating the demand for illegal substances would unilaterally resolve the drug problem eventually, although in the short run we would still have the challenge of releasing the addicted from the grips of their habits. Absent demand, the impetus for the drug trade -- profit -- would disappear. So, too, would the social and health costs of drug abuse. In reality, there will always be a demand for drugs. Some portion of every population will continue to use illegal drugs to escape reality, experience pleasure, follow peer pressure, chase a misguided sense of adventure, or rebel against authority, among other self-destructive reasons. To counter these proclivities, prevention activities must forestall the use of illegal drugs,…
