This is what.
Back in January, there was a large landslide in Laurel Canyon, California. One backyard just slid down the mountain, into two other backyards, trapping two residents in their home. The road closed due to the slide and it caused a lot of damage to people’s homes. Two homes were red-tagged meaning entrance was prohibited, two were yellow-tagged meaning only part of the house was safe, but who’s going to go in their house when there is cleanup crew, fire department, and debris all over you beloved, probably really expensive home? Know what I mean? Since it’s newsworthy, Daily Mail wrote an article about it. Here’s why I got mad. Not only was Daily Mail’s thumbnail and article on Kylie Jenners “selfie game”, but the article written about the landslide, was about how Demi Lovato couldn’t access her driveway. Her house was literally untouched by the muddy landslide, and yet they want to report on how she was unable to go home? (Even though her house was one that was red-flagged supposedly, there was still no damage) Like? What about the people that don’t have a home to go to, or the people that are stuck on the road, the one’s that have to pay
thousands, if not millions of dollars in repairs? What about the power lines that were buried, and the power outages that followed? What about the 9,000 pounds of dirt, mud and debris now just chillen’ on the mountain side, in the road, and in people’s yards? The firefighters and rescue teams that risked their lives to save the two residents and clean up the debris? Or even the fact that it rained to much in California and the land gave away? Like these are real issues. The only thing the article said (after talking about Demi) was that five houses were evacuated as a precaution and there were no injuries reported. Like yeah, I get that no one got hurt and all that but it’s still serious. Like do people have to get hurt to have a fully detailed article written about them? No. They just need to be hot and take good selfies.
Another reason that really gets me is because Daily Mail wrote three or four articles about it and actually provided like really detailed information about it, so I’m not positive if it was Snapchat’s idea to choose that article or Daily Mail’s (I believe it was Snapchat just because a celebrity was involved). Either way it really peeves me.
So the point of all this is that they are more likely to report on celebrities, than actual news. Maybe to distract us from the atrocities going on in America right now, or just to increase their fame, or maybe their just Dick’s, either way, it’s wrong, to me atleast.
Aaaaaannd End Rant :)
