Someone started a malicious rumor to a fast-foot chain called Snapp in Fort Pierce Florida. The rumor was started before the flyer stating that a manager that worked at that location had aids and was putting blood into the meat they served. This rumor was circulating around the same time that the girl got aids from the dentist in the same geographic location. Being that the rumor of the patient got aids from the dentist in the location it was very believable for the people that lived in that area.
This malicious rumor causes the restaurant sales to drop 50%.
Then the Ohio base corporation sent the regional Vice President down to Florida to use damage control to the situation. Along with the Vice President they hired a lawyer, private investigator, and public relation that what from the area. He also included the St. Lucie County Health Department.
The Snapp Corporation did the following steps to fight a negative rumor that is already circulation. Snapp did not mention the rumor but when it started circulating and affecting the business then they analyzed the situation. They choose their strategy to get to the bottom of this rumor. They did the resources to fine the information where the flyer came from. They had a creditable source to do the testing of the managers for aids. When they got all the facts in place they had a press conference. They got a creditable person from of the health department to bring it out into the open. Explain it was not true and gave valid information to explain about aids. This was to help make public feel safe to eat at the restaurant again. You cannot contact AIDS by transmitted by food and safe to eat the food at Snapp's.
The restaurant found out the young girl was a minor that started the flyer. They did not prosecute her rumor started before the flyer. Just let her to public apology and help restaurant get back to normal. The help people feel safe to come back to the restaurant
