Snares Island penguin, is a penguin native to a group of islands, called the Snares,
in New Zealand. The penguin can be anywhere between 50-70 cm tall and weigh
2.5-4 kg. Like any penguin, it has a white belly and a black back and wings, but one
of its most distinguishing features are its bright yellow eyebrowstripes. These
eyebrow-stripes extend across above the eyes and flair out from the sides of its
head. The Snares penguin also has a large, red-brown bill.
Snares penguins can have colonies anywhere from 10 to 1200 nests.
They nest in dense colonies under the tree cover of the Olearia forests or on
