For example, in football, the game is a series of plays of short bursts of action; after each play both teams then regroup to prepare for the next play. The difference in Rugby is that the action stops for shorter periods of time, this is because after a player is tackled, the ball is quickly rolled to a teammate, and play resumes. Lastly, Rugby is a more international sport, whereas football is played mostly in the continent of North…

Football is one of America’s most beloved sports and with the super bowl coming up; fans of the sport are getting ready for the big game. I am an avid football fan myself and love playing it as much I enjoy watching it. What I have come to notice recently, is how the lives of football players are drastically changed when they are off the field. Football is a full contact sport, if you’re not prepared or unprotected at any given time during a play, you could end up limping off the field nursing injuries or even leave the game on a stretcher.…

For as long as one can trace back history, humans have always been obsessed with the act of competitive violence. While in the modern age we might have shied away from events such as gladiators and duels, our modern forms of sport tend to take on a brutal nature entirely their own. Of these modern sports perhaps none is more physical then American football. In fact, the sport is largely comprised of and designed around the act of violence, with men of all different shapes and sizes throwing each other around with no regard for physical well-being. However this is where the interest of health and popular appeal contradict each other. While no one player has the intention to hurt another player, the game thrives on its violent nature.
