Soccer Informative Speech Essay
Have you ever heard the saying, “have you ever wanted something so much it hurt”? Well, when I say it. I’m talking about literally hurting. Your legs are so sore, it feels like you can’t take another stride, your so out of breath from chasing the ball around, and your so exhausted from last nights practice, your bed seems to be the most attractive thing to you right now. Three hour practices of straight running, push ups, and sit ups has its pros and cons. Even at times when you feel like you need a break, pushing yourself through it is what makes you a better player. I choose to inform you on soccer because I’ve played my whole life, from 5 years old until my senior year in high school, and its something I know about. The three main points in my opinion that are most important when it comes to playing soccer are teamwork, sportsmanship, and dedication. To start off, I think that teamwork is a big deal in playing soccer because it is a team sport. Not once during the game is it ever an individual game or 1 on 1. The article on how to develop teamwork in soccer by ehow.com states that very few sports teams can exist with a team of individuals playing the game for themselves. After all, you can’t pass the ball to yourself and expect to get around 11 other players all on your own. It always comes down to strategy and how to get around your opponent to score a goal. Passing the ball either forward towards the goal, or behind you to your teammate helps the team spread out to push the ball further up the field. It is never one person’s fault when the other team scores a goal, or does something to get around one of your players because your teammate should always be there to back you up. It’s everyone on the field’s fault because the opponent got around everyone of your players to get to you. Along with that, sportsmanship is needed to play not only soccer, but any team sport. Wikipedia.com states that a “good sport” means being a good winner as well as being a good

First off I want to give you a general idea of the rules and regulations. Professional soccer is played with 11 players from each team on the field at once, including a goalie. There are no time outs and no commercial breaks during a game. The duration of a game is 90 minutes, with 45 minute halves, and a 15 minute halftime. In addition, although this applies to every soccer player, professional or amateur you must not touch the ball with your hands, from your fingertips, all the way up to your shoulders. And you must wear cleats and shin guards while you’re playing. These are some essential guidelines of soccer but there are many more.…

I remember when I was five, I would always attend my step sister’s soccer games during the weekend while at my dad’s. I would always love to watch but I was more of a hands on person. I have always wanted to play soccer but unfortunately it was harder to do for a kid, like me, when I had divorced parents that lived 40 minutes away from each other. It was so hard because usually when it came to soccer, the games would be during the weekend and practices would be a few days during the week. Finally, after my sophomore year I decided to try again and play for my school.…

The first step to learning to play soccer is that you must be in top physical shape. It is like basketball, most of the players are tall. In soccer the same principle applies, you are constantly running up and down the field so your physique will greatly affect your skills. You must begin physical training at least two weeks prior to starting foot work. One of the best places to begin training is at a tropical beach. Running and exercising in the sand is said to be tougher than on firm ground. To maintain the best physique possible players must also have a healthy diet. Also, you should go to the gym and work your legs out because that is what you will mainly be using in soccer.…

Also, winning is nothing to me because you must like your teammates. If you don’t like your teammates, you’ll never want to practice together because you’ll always be fighting.
