It started just as any normal Saturday would; December 8, 2012, I woke up, went through my morning routine and went to soccer practice. Now that you have an idea of the rules of professional soccer, I will continue to explain the popularity and passion of the game. Soccer is very widely played all over the world. The most prestigious international soccer competition is that of the world cup, held every four years, it lasts about a month, the most recent one being held in South Africa world cup 2010. With more than a billion viewers a day and tuned in to approximately 30 billion times, it is more popular than the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Masters, and the NBA finals. Surrounded by a massive ray of brightness, complete silence, I was just as shocked as my mother and father standing on the lush and thick grass. All I could see was my teammate, Zayna with her short, black, thick hair and the other team's goalie. I was standing on the field right in front of the goal.
