Ancient Egypt Research Paper
In the past, people were hunters and gatherers. Then they started farming and they settled then they started to build civilizations. But there can’t be a civilization without the seven indicators of civilization. Egypt was a complex civilization because it has all 7 of the indicators.
Well-organized government
All complex civilizations need to have Well-Organized Government. In Egypt, the government had different ranks in the government.
The Head of the government was the Pharaoh. He was the …show more content…
leader of a lot of things in Egypt, he was the head of the religion and he made the law he was considered a god. When died he was barred with all his riches.
The second strongest in power was the vizier. He was the supervisor of the land the other officers reported to him. According to ducksters, the law said the vizier had to 1 act by the law 2 judge fairly 3 not to act consciously or stubborn.
The third in power were the nomarks. The nomarks ruled over a large field of land, in Egypt, they called them nomes(“A nome was like a state”).Sometimes they were appointed by the Pharaoh and other times it was passed down from father and son.
Complex religion
A complex society needs a religion. Ancient Egyptians had a religion with a lot of gods and goddesses
One of the gods they believed was Ra. Ra was the sun god and he was the most important one in Egypt. The Egyptians thought Ra created all life. a goddess that they believed was Isis. She was the mother goddess and the Egyptians thought that she would protect the people.
Another major god was Osiris.
Osiris was the god of death he was married to Isis, and he was the father of Hours. One more god was Hours. Hours was the god of the sky, he was Isis and Osiris child. The Pharaoh was thought to be Hours. The last god I will talk about is thoth. Thoth was the god of knowledge he gave the Egyptians mathematics, writing, and medicine.
My third indicator is social classes.
In a complex society, there will always be different social classes. This is how the social classes in ancient Egypt worked. Of course, the top of the classes was the Pharaoh. The Pharaoh made all the laws and could do whatever he wanted and everybody else had to obey. The second was the vizier. The vizier was the one that was with the Pharaoh the most, and he watched over the land.
The priest were the third highest in the classes of Egypt. The priest did a lot in Egypt they prayed and they preached about the gods.
The scribes were the fourth. The scribes kept a record of most things that happened in ancient Egypt most of what we know about Egypt is from the scribes.
And the bottom where the slaves. Slaves had no free will and they had to do anything their owner told them to. If they didn’t they got
punished.
