This aspect of Social Contract is something that I personally value, but understandably not every person agrees to. Providing support to disadvantage leave less resources to the advantaged, reducing their progression, which probably have a higher maximum potential. By introducing an obstacle in an advantaged individual, it reduces the maximum “happiness” or utility for the individual. For example, when I am knowledgeable in a topic in school and a peer is struggling with the same topic, and is unable to receive assistance right away, I feel a duty to make an attempt to assist them at no gain for myself to bring the other individual up.
