Most of these reforms affected the people in social aspects, which would cause the Russians to make many enemies in the process (5). One main enemy created were tribal leaders from land reforms initiated. These reforms weren't the worse thing they would do that would cause social impacts. The Soviets would try to “curb” certain uprising causing a mass amount of deaths of the Afghan people (5). Tensions would constantly be building as the war would continue, as of in any war. Before Soviets even entered the war there were already Civil Wars going on because of differences with the Afghan people. These Civil Wars would be something the Soviet Union would have to deal with throughout the war. Having Civil Wars going on as well as fighting to keep the Communist government in place would prove to be yet another hardship for the Soviet
