Social Issues In The Movie Freedom Writers
Social issues are very relevant in today’s society. Problems like racism and discrimination are faced by many in our world today. The people being attacked by these acts of hatred find different ways to fight for their rights. It is often very difficult for others to understand what the minorities in our world have had to face over the years. To help shine some light on these issues, several movies and books have been produced in order to inform the people of the hardships of discrimination. One movie in particular, “Freedom Writers”, has helped people to empathize with those affected by racism and discrimination. The message of overcoming adversity in “Freedom Writers” strongly relates to the real-life social issues in the world today. The movie “Freedom Writers” is an amazing story of students …show more content…
There are thousands of gangs living in the projects all around the United states. These gangs constantly attack each other and vandalize city property. Many people do not realize the significance of gang violence and the effect that it can have on everyone. Gang members murder and steal from innocent people, solely to show loyalty to their own group. Also, gangs are almost always affiliated with drug circles, which cause great amounts of damage to people involved or nearby. This violence has gone on for years and will continue until something changes drastically.
The movie “Freedom Writers” has helped raise awareness to gang violence and racial discrimination in many ways. The movie shows the true stories of the victims of these issues and how they overcame their problems. Many of the scenes in the movie are accurate representations of what happens in the real world. It shows the point of view of a teenager living through discrimination and prejudice. The movie does a great job of representing the struggles for youth in America. It helps teach us all about the issue of discrimination and the ways to overcome
