In fact,¨72% of U.S. teens text-message regularly, a third of them more than 100 times a day and as a means of keeping up with friends daily, teens are more likely to text than to talk by phone, by e-mail or face to face,¨ reported Pew Research Center in Melissa Healy´s article, ¨Teenage Social Media Butterflies May Not Be Such a Bad Idea.¨ ¨Today’s youths are missing out on experiences that help them develop empathy for others, understand different emotions, and recognize the meaning of facial expressions and body language because they are less and less interested in face to face communication,¨ stated Hilary Stout in her article ¨Antisocial Networking?¨ Even though it has been proven that spending a lot of time on electronics or social media is actually good for your mind and could be helping their mind more than face to face communication. Also, the survey shows that even though people talk over social media or messaging, it doesn´t keep them from talking face to face because they would rather talk face to face than over a device. Face to face communication helps people determine other's feelings better than over a device along with it helping them determine what to say directly back to someone with them being in front of you because people often say mean things over messaging that they wouldn´t say in person.
Social media should not be used as much as it is and people need to be getting more exercise and do more activities to keep healthy. Messaging and social media keeping people from face to face communication isn't good because it is more beneficial to talk face to face than over messaging or social media.
