Progressivism first began as a social movement and later started growing into a political movement. It went from 1890- 1920, during which leading intellectuals and social reformers in the United States needed to address the economic, political, and cultural questions that had appeared in the context of the rapid changes. The Progressives movement major objective was having to eliminate the corruption that was happening in the government. The movement mostly focused on political machines and their bosses.
