A social worker works fulltime and sometimes may work holidays and weekends in order to meet with a client. Social workers hold about 649,300 jobs in 2014 and the state and local government employ about 29% of these individuals. The lowest percentage employed was in nursing homes and residential care facilities. A social worker will visit many homes and facilities in order to help their clients. Some of the facilities I found to be interesting were mental health clinics, correctional facilities, and the one that caught my eye the most
was military bases and hospitals. That is an area that I didn't think about that I want to look into more i feel that our military sacrifices so much to keep our country safe that i would like to possibly help them out. Due to large case loads and understaffing this job is considered stressful. The median annual wage for a social worker recorded in 2014 was $45,000 with the lowest income earned by an individual or family service worker. The highest earned income is made by a social worker employed by a state, local, or privately owned hospital. The job prospects show a steady rise from the year 2010 to 2024 and particularly for candidates with a masters and licensures. The overall employment shows a rise of 12% which is a promising incline for ones interested in this line of work.
