Unfortunately, the negative feeling of not being able to provide causes the client to pull away from the family; continually leaving the house to seek work, but is out drinking with friends. The first step in helping the client is directing them to support groups for alcohol users before the situation get too far out of hand. The second level is to motivate self-change to lift his self-esteem, self-respect, respect for others, and learn to deal with issues in interpersonal functioning. Once the client is stable and ready to achieve personal growth, he can be introduced to new forms of job training and placement to become well equipped to find a different type of employment and since he is inexperienced in the field, he will not be overqualified but will have adequate work references.
