Social Work Personal Statement Analysis
Personal Statement of Elisa Hernandez Social work for me is to advocate for repressed people by providing a service to seek greater social justice. It means to empower clients with a challenging situation by redirecting their focus on their abilities to empower themselves and suggest a new perspective on a problem by breaking down a solution into smaller and achievable steps. One value of social work is competence, prepared and able to help an individual by providing resources while recognizing the capability and client's integrity to choose the best action he/she feels is in their best interest. My strengths are that I can keep the confidentiality of sensitive things told by others, I am a dedicated and positive person. These can help me be a suitable social worker because the privacy of the client is important to avoid stigma. With dedication, I can keep organized the paperwork needed to connect clients with the services that can aid them and keep learning of the new resources available. My positive attitude can help as a social worker to gain the trust of the clients and handle the stressful situations that the job has. My biggest weakness was that I used to work on only one task at a time till that was finished, but I have learned to work on multiple assignments and tasks at the same time since this improves the creativity of new ways and ideas to fulfill each

The only weakness I have is adapting to change. I never knew I had this kind of trouble in life, but I learned about something I have to work on. After analyzing it I realize it is a problem. Because I get nervous when I start something new or when I get stuck doing something I cannot do, I start to get frustrated. After learning this about myself, I need to work on making my weakness into strength by adapting to any type of changes in my life. My strengths included following instructions and adhering to values. I am very good when I have instructions in front of me as I build something new or when I have an assignment. Following instructions is my biggest strength in my life because it is something I use every day. Adhering to values is something new that I learned about myself just because I never noticed it in my life. I am the type of person who will stand by the truth in every situation around my.…

My strengths are analyzing problems, and doing well through research. ,I tend to think through things and am able to solve a situation through past experiences and use good reason with intuition and imagination, which are all good qualities. I have self - knowledge and can balance responsibility with entrepreneurship. I am self- reliant and expect the same in return. I have wisdom and insight to situations and a great imagination as well. My weaknesses tend to be that I require people to do things my way to be the right way, in which I guess I have always had this outlook. I tend to be judgmental and acquisitive or possessive, that I tend to drive people away. I sometimes exert my freewill, thus not being accountable to those depending on me! III. Strengths and weaknesses – One of my strengths is in self-knowledge. It states that when I say I am going to do something or care for someone, I will follow through with it, which is entirely true. Even within my gaming community, when it involves people playing fictitious characters on a computer screen, when I tell someone I am going to do something for them, I follow through with it to the best of my ability. Also when it comes to someone asking me a question in game about something, I will research everything I can find until I have the correct answer to give them. My weaknesses are with becoming too judgmental and legalistic, meaning I can become overly rigid with my expectations and obsess over minute details. I do have a tendency to get upset if someone does not do what they say they are going to do and tend to label them not so much as unethical, but as lazy.…

Social work is a profession committed to the development of the full potential of individuals, groups, and communities. “There are many ways to determine what people need from social workers. One can locate a service at the crossroads of life, observe the way people live, the strains they are subject to from their environments and their relationships, and the ways they react to these events” (Meyer,1976, p. 42).…

Ever since I was in fourth grade, I have enjoyed helping kids and watching them learn new things and grow. The best feeling is helping children with something and watching their faces light up as they discover what they can do all by themselves. While in fourth and fifth grade, I was a part of the buddy program at my school which entailed spending every lunch in the special education classroom at my elementary school. A trait I possess is being sequential and that is useful for the career I want because it will help me with staying organized and grading papers. I am an analyzer, I like to know what is going on around me and love to know how things work. This is a trait that comes in handy with being an elementary school teacher.…

My entire life I have experienced the deepest desire to try to help people. I found myself always offering help throughout my school years and giving advice to my peers. I wanted to be a guidance counselor when I grew up because I knew I would be able to help shape people’s lives and provide hope for them. I have been a listening board for anyone in need and have been able to think out of the box for solutions to problems. This desire to counsel people occurs naturally in me and I decided to pursue it in chemical dependency after my cousin died from a heroin overdose. Having spent the last five years working in the chemical dependency field, I have come to realize that my passion lies in helping people who are less advantaged. Working with client’s who struggle with addiction along the poverty line exposed me to the massive amount of needs that need to be met in the other areas of their lives. This gave me great insight into the role of a social worker as I was acting as a case manager for most of my clients.…
