Individuals are flooded with the consistent, overwhelming quest of who are they meant to be and what purpose they must serve. They dawn over the impending downward spiral of their time and create any scheme to prolong their time. Fortunately, my purpose appeared in a series of actions and behaviors that I once ignored so long, flooded into me in a matter of minutes. It was to help those, who cannot help themselves alone. It was the blessing of a chance encounter of an individual that has been impacted with hardship after hardship to appear right before my eyes. Subsequently, they push past their limitations to accommodate to their patients’ needs, whether it is endlessly researching community resources, constant advocacy for their patients’ needs, or becoming the voice of humanity and composure over crisis issues, such as child abuse. These benevolent individuals often place their lives in imperiling danger from negative backlashes of cases, such as child neglect, child abuse, alcohol addiction, or the transition for individuals, who are dying. Additionally, this particular occupation requires full-time commitment, where weekends and holidays have to be sacrificed, in order to ensure the patient is still on the right path by spending more time with patients than they do in their offices. Likewise, these individuals must fully be able to create an atmosphere, where patients are not frightened to open up their deepest and darkest emotions. They must be compassionate, have superb communication and listening skills, and most importantly, have excellent problem-solving skills. However, these individuals must follow an educational pathway in order to efficiently practice their occupation, such as gaining a bachelor’s degree in social work or a master’s degree in social work if becoming clinical, healthcare, or school social workers. In both their and my own mindset, any additional education is nothing compared to impacting the life of any individual to see the light and happiness life truly intends for its occupants to witness. Nevertheless, these social workers exemplify the true capabilities of humanity that helping one another is truly more important than a measly sum of $44,200 annually, since they choose to help others than to be a bystander for someone else’s
