One of the concepts that I found interesting in module one is on the topic of Feminist theory.
In the text, it states how "feminist theory also looks at how information is shaped and whether there is a woman’s way of knowing that is different from male perspectives. The text also states "during the 1800s, most women did not attend college since the norm of the day dictated that “a woman’s place was in the home.” This topic interests me because it recognizes women's political, social, and economic equality to men. In today's society, some men still believe that a women's place is in the home, cooking, and cleaning. I feel like society feels this way because women were excluded from the social theory when in reality women can do just about anything a man can do if she puts her mind to it. Granted men are much stronger physically than women but women can do just about …show more content…
anything.
Another concept that interest me is the conflict theory.
The reason I chose conflict theory is that conflict theory is applicable in modern-day America. People with money, economic and social resource are in a better position in society and have it easier than people who don’t. Another reason I chose this theory is that before the union many workers had no job security. Now people can actually work for a company that is affiliated with the union and be protected. Workers can easily resort to a strike if they are a part of a union if they feel like they are being treated unfairly, underpaid, or overworked so the employers can fulfill their demands. I think it’s a good thing they came up with this because a person can work for a company, be overworked, underpaid and ignored by the employer and not have anything done about it. These are some of the concepts from module 1 that has interested
me.
