Human beings are by nature social, for it is indispensable for them to have relationship with the society. Sociology is the attempt to understand how society works. However, who is responsible for the problems surrounding our society? Sociologist C. Wright Mills though that sociology is responsible of many of our problems. In 1959, he introduced the sociological imagination, remarking in his own words as “ the capacity to shift from one perspective to another”, establishing a relationship between experience and the wider society. Imagine two roads coming together, the point in which biography and history meets is Sociological Imagination.

Also, Mills stated that personal troubles become public issues as the main characteristic of a sociological imagination. The connection into personal and private matters in historical connections, relates to what we prefer, how we use our wealth, the kind of people we accept and reject. We can apply the concept of the sociological imagination to any behavior For example; the public issue of obesity in the United States can be seen in different perspectives. First, we all need food for it is a biological necessity. As a social meaning, food is part of our identity in particular your preferences in taste, state of hungriness or the country you reside in. For Americans it is common to eat pizza, pretzels, ice cream, etc.… on the contrary Asians eat rice, soups, seafood etc.… for, both it is their cultures, the society in which we live limits the selection of foods we have, we create our own food
