Family involves symbolic interactionalism becuause the basis of both family and symbolic interactionalism are similar. With symbolic interactionalism the basis of the concept is that interaction with others is the central point of a society. Being a part of a family requires you to interact with eachother. Interaction with family members is the central point of being a family just as interaction is the central point of symbolic interactinalism. Most people think of a family as the nuclear family having the father, mother, and their children in the household. However, families are now portrayed in many different ways other than the traditional family. The basis of the functionalist theory is that there are many parts to a society and that each part has a specific job inorder to keep the society in tact. Members of families also have certain jobs inorder for the family to keep completely functioning. Neutral families particularly have the most in common with the functionaslit theory. Neutral families typically consist of a mother father and there children. Each member of the family have a specific duty to forfill. The father with his patriarch jobs such as providing for the family and the mothers job of providing care and aid to the children. Without these roles and jobs performed a family can not
