Relate/connect Sociology and Anthropology to the Physical Therapy profession. I believe that to be an effective Physical Therapist, one must know how to communicate with the patient. Learning the history and background of how humans behave will make talking to patients easier. And also, the medical history and therapeutic records from previous cases around the world will really be of help in curing the sick.
Do you think that Sociology and Anthropology is relevant to you personally and in your chosen profession?
I think that Sociology and Anthropology is important to me and to my chosen profession for it will keep me informed on the happenings in society; the past and present, and infer the future. It will help me find my place in the general public. And as a future Physical Therapist, I will be equipped with the knowledge of former health issues that happened in various civilizations.

Anthropology on the other hand, traditionally studies simple, more primitive, non-literate societies (Bhatt, 2013). Sociology studies both large and small societies while anthropology tends to focus more on smaller societies. When it comes to research styles, anthropology stresses immersion in native life while sociology tends to stress distance from the object of study (Dilipchandra, 2012). Sociology treats data quantitatively while anthropology treats data qualitatively. Sociology emphasized that human behavior can be measured and that that measurement is reliable (Dilipchandra, 2012). Anthropology touts that a large part of human behavior is beyond the realm of measurement (Dilipchandra, 2012). Due to changes in our world, sociology and anthropology are converging (McGraw-Hill, 2013). Sociologists can now be found doing research in developing countries and due to industrialization, anthropologists can be found doing research in industrialized societies (McGraw-Hill,…

Benjamin Franklin once said, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail” (Bouffard). I took this to heart as I researched possible careers for myself. I want to have a well-developed plan so once I am a senior, I have an idea of what I want to do for a living and where I want to head in my life. Sociology and epidemiology are two careers that I have an interest in because they involve my favorite subject, science. Sociologists study how people behave and interact in different social groups and situations (“Sociologists” 565) whereas epidemiologists study diseases and how they affect people and communities by looking at the and the origin, spread, and regulation of said diseases (“Epidemiologists” 296). Both careers have similar personality traits…

The terms "social science" and "social research" have both gained a degree of autonomy since their origination in classical sociology. The distinct field of social psychology emerged from the many intersections of sociological and psychological interests, and is further distinguished in terms of sociological or psychological emphasis.[114]…

Similar to other classes like Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, Sociology is a science. It is considered a science because sociologists use logical methods to uncover information about the social world (basically it is used to gain awareness and comprehension of how societies use and fallow trends and patterns). Like other sciences, sociology fallows systematic approaches when asking questions, forms theories to see if they can pertain to data, and then comes to a logical conclusion to the question asked that is founded by supportable knowledge. This cycle is how sociologists obtain information about the societies in our social lives, and then use that information to better our understanding of how common communities are formed while explaining why things happen in societal life.…
