Only in trying to come to know ourselves better and to understand us as humans, does our lives have any meaning or value. If we humans only live to not question ourselves and the world around us, we would never distinguish ourselves while not knowing what the difference is between good, evil, and bad actions. Without philosophy, people might argue that us humans are no better than just mere animals. An example of this would be the Bible quote Job 42:2 “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.” This quote means that we can do many things and that humans have a purpose in life.
Socrates does argue that the unexamined life is not worth living. Socrates wants to spread his message that life is worth living. Socrates died for what he believed in. He died for his argument that humans should not only find a purpose in their life, but to live life to the fullest. Socrates is known for his argument even hundreds of years later. Socrates was super confident in his arguments that he used anything in his arguments to win over people, but he didn’t believe in winning or losing an argument.
