Amber Ordoway had known for quite a while that she wasn't attracted to guys, but she hadn't told anyone. It wasn't out of fear of being ridiculed or seen as some sort of show, it was simply because it was no one's god damn business. But finally, at the first party of junior year she came out of the closet, metaphorically of course. It had all happened because of one Matthew Jonas, a sleazy senior guy who probably should've known better than to hit on her.…

In the author's article he presents the idea that girls should follow a more independent manner rather than the stereotype of princess who needs saving in modern films. With evidence from movies like Ella Enchanted where the princess is escaping the binds of having to marry her prince, rather than wait to be saved by her prince it is clear the author supports more feminist themes for modern fairytales.…

“The tilt of Alyss’ head, the particular sweep of her arms, her careful steps forward. The Liddells were so taken by her appearance that that they failed to realize it was the first time she had ever called them by those most intimate of endearments, mother and father” (Beddor 90). This event shows that Alyss is trying to change her behavior to fit in with the new world that she was forced into. She is tired of people thinking she is odd and no one believing her story so she believes that the only way to stop this is for her to conform to society and act like everyone else. Beddor states that Alyss is perplexed by stating “It couldn’t have been him. The man with the scars, it couldn’t have. He didn’t exist”(Beddor 116).This shows that Alyss is confused and baffled because of all of the events that are taking place. Dodge’s appearance stirred Alyss’ memory and feelings and is making memories that she had buried deeply resurface. The author also shows that Alyss is adored by saying “Young men of rank paused in appreciation as Alice passed, took pains to learn who she was, invited her to parties where they did their best to impress her with their wit and knowledge of worldly affairs” (Beddor 95). This shows that Alice was adored and all of the men loved…

In fact, one of Walt Disney’s favourite tales was in fact Cinderella, with he can relate to the character with her hard-working nature in hopes that they are rewarded one day for it. Despite the criticism these characters may get, it is usually due to how they are in fact limited to roles that they are given during those times. Which means that as time moves on, the role of a Disney Princess has changed, along with the role of women in animated works in general with much more variety of roles given to them. The later Princesses are a lot more active and take much bigger chances than earlier Princesses, are actually go out and contribute a lot more to plot other than just being there to be rescued. For example, we gave Merida from Pixar’s Brave (2012). Her story is a focused a lot on her and the relationship she has with her mother, and we see how she grows as a character as well as watching her rebel against the typical treats of a Princess. She can be considered the new image of the Disney Princess, but she isn’t the only one or the first to do so. Ariel from The Little Mermaid (1990) is also a lot more curious about the world around her on land and she goes out and explores, and she even at one point makes effort to help and save the…

Ages two to six are years where advertisements, and “everyone’s doing it” are crucial influences for behavioral patterns. The Princess doll merchandise and is everywhere, and very popular. Today, not buying a female child her rightful amount of Princess gear is almost insuring her unpopularity among peers and social Siberia. However, most of them highlight the negative impacts of the ‘Princess Ideal’ left on young children’ mind; especially on the young girls. Snow White’s fair and white skin color don’t only attract more boys, but it also becomes a dream for girls trying to look like these princess’. Consequently, girls with the dark skin lose their confidence. In this regard, the animated fairy tales are prime example. Snow White, being one of the favorite Disney princess' of children these days, has changed a lot in the last twenty years. Intentionally or unintentionally, the Disney princess is teaching young girls that all the value is of their beauty; and with this beauty, they can dream of having a handsome prince.
