1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
The industry refers to “any general business activity or commercial enterprise” (business dictionary). An industry is understood to be recognized as any groups or firms that produce a product and service for people in fulfilling their needs, demands and requirements. The term soft science industry is frequently used to refer to a firm involving business activity that is focused solely on soft skills that deal with the study of human and societies in the particular setting, rather than hard science which emphasized on sciences background knowledge such as chemistry, physics and experiment-based. Motteram (2013) uttered that the technology itself is well-equipped with a particular abilities which lend themselves for the users’ language learning besides the strategic planned activities in making sure the effective use of it. Overreliance of this technology is formerly believed has partly reduced the usage of both formal spoken and written language that may depart from the accurate usage of the language.
Hence, there is still a need for English language proficiency for communication purposes either in oral or written to be learnt and mastered accordingly although the technology such as email, skype, telegram and many more has come to rescue. This matter is significant to ensure that the information is being correctly transmitted by the sender to the receiver in which Motteram (2013) clarified that the technology offers adequate strategies for language development and content-specific understanding (as cited in Butler-Pascoe, 2009) where it acts as a platform to practice the language learnt effectively.
