Softub Canada began in 1990 as a distributor for Softub USA. The product is a portable foam hot tub with pump and hydro-therapy jets. It can be plugged into any household 120 volt receptacle. It is covered with marine vinyl and totally self contained. The product was developed in the mid-1980’s and the U.S. manufacturer, holds several patents relating to its heating system.
Since those early years the company has evolved from a distributor, to an assembler, into a full scale manufacturing concern with over 20 employees. The company has made numerous improvements to the tubs and have few warranty claims.
Manufacturing
The tubs are now manufactured in their Sudbury facility. Each tub is constructed of polyethylene foam, with two foot high, six inch thick walls. Tubs are covered with marine vinyl and weigh only 50 lbs. They are truly portable and can be rolled through a normal house doorway. A lightweight thermal cover minimizes evaporation and radiant heat loss.
The tub powerpack has a 1 horsepower circulating pump and 1400 watt surgical stainless steel heat recovery system which replaces conventional heating elements. The pump/heating system plugs into any 120 volt receptacle and attaches to the tub easily without tools. This makes Softub more reliable and efficient than conventional tubs. The unique system keeps the water hot and ready to use. The circular design and floating foam cover act like a thermos to capture and hold the heat. The cost to keep Softub running is one-tenth of a conventional spa or tub.
