Why We Should Continue To Explore Space
Space exploration is an important aspect of our nation’s research into the future of mankind. The money spent on space exploration is a meaningful investment. The United States’ government should continue to spend money on space exploration.
The space program in the United States counts for a small part of our yearly budget. The average percent spent on the program is between 0.7% and 0.8%. This percent is tiny compared to the rest of the money spent on other programs in the United States. Some people believe that the money spend on the space program is a waste. Those people are wrong. We have had many technological advances on Earth because of the research and development of space exploration. These technological advances are items used around American households. Such as better insulation, smoke detectors, cordless power tools, purification systems, and satellite television. Just think of where we would be without this everyday items. "An Earth-like planet spotted outside our solar system is the first found that could support liquid water and harbor life." This comes from a NASA researcher. New life on other planets could mean so much for the future of humans. The only way to keep finding out new information about our solar system and beyond is to spend money to research it. The only way to prove that there is life on other planets is to conduct research. We have to make sure that we keep paying the money so we can send actual people to space to fix problems with the technology, instead of trying to fix it through a monitor on Earth.
Exploring space is not the only a want, but a need. We as American have the responsibility to pay for research that would help us find out the mystery of space. Do you not want to find out the mystery? "NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration." NASA. N.p., n.d. Web. 18 Jan. 2013.
