The director of the Big Bang Theory, Mark Cendrowski, shows women as society seems them in today’s world. A feminist theory, according to Deborah Appleman, is a society is which males dominate and do not allow women to be seen as equal or as superior as to them. (Appleman 87) This theory may refer back to the American Dream which was when men were suppose to work and be the brains of the household and the women were expected to do the chores around the house as well as take care of the kids. It is seen all throughout today’s world that we live in a society in which men and females are viewed very differently. The episode starts with Sheldon’s computer giving out and his girlfriend Amy giving him a new one. Sheldon, being very picky about his choice of computers, was shocked to see that she had gotten him a new one without his advice. When given the new computer he began to question Amy immediately, hoping to make her feel bad for buying a computer before consulting with him about it; this is the first example of a feminist theory in this episode. After much questioning and telling her that she was not capable of picking the perfect computer, Sheldon realized that there was no reason to get upset because Amy had consulted with a very intelligent man at the store where she bought the computer from who just happened to know which one had the essentials that Sheldon would be looking for. The next conflict that happens in this episode is when Leonard and Howard formulated a lie to tell Penny and Bernadette so that they can see a new movie that had just came out. Leonard and Howard tell the girls that they got a flat tire on the way to the hardware store and that they would be gone a little longer than expected; this is the second example of a feminist theory in this episode.
Leonard knew that Penny, his fiancé, would believe this lie because she was very gullible and it did not take much to trick her. Penny isn’t as book smart as the other characters in the series so she is easily picked on and treated differently for
