At the beginning of the film Hero of War, by Rise Against, the army recruiter is trying to persuade a potential recruit to sign up for the army. He promises him adventure and good money. The recruit signs up expecting to become a hero of war and be treated like a hero. But instead, he goes off to war and finds out that soldiers are not heroes at all. When he returns home he is treated as a hero but he does not understand …show more content…
The text is shows all the tanks and army jeeps flying together to make one massive monster. This shows how the author is trying to show us that the soldiers are all little pieces in one massive army. The big monster represents the army generals who control all the soldiers to do what they want. I agree with this because the soldiers don’t get much choice in what they do and are ordered to do everything. This is also portrayed in the film Rambo by Ted Kotcheff.
In the film Rambo First Blood, by Ted Kotcheff, Rambo returns from serving at the war in Vietnam. He has been controlled by the army leaders and generals for so long he has lost all instincts to act like a normal human so all he knows how to do is fight. Rambo returns from Vietnam expecting to be treated like a hero. But after risking his life to serve his country he is treated like a monster and is shown no respect by anyone. This text has shown me that soldiers like Rambo are innocent. The only reason they act like they do is that of what war has done to them. Ted Kotcheff wanted to show us that returned veterans are not treated well enough and that we need to give them more respect. This theme is also shown in the text Wrong Side of Heaven by Five Finger Death …show more content…
They are shown very little respect compared to what they should be. An example of this was when the little girl approached the returned veteran. She offered him some flowers but her mother noticed and dragged her away. It was also shown when the black veteran soldier got out of his fancy car in the alleyway. He noticed the homeless veteran sitting up against the wall. He walked over and at a closer look realised it was the soldier who had saved his life back when they were at war together. He realised that he had been very lucky to get off so well when he returned from war and that a lot of his army compatriots had not got off so well. The author of this text wanted us to see that a big percentage of returned soldiers were homeless. They struggle to realise why they are treated the way they are after risking their lives to fight for their country. I agree with the author of this text that the soldiers are treated very badly after risking their lives to fight for their country. This text is much like the other three texts I talked about. They all show how soldiers are not treated like they should
