Debra Maquart, the writer of “Some things about that day”, used a summary conclusion. The writer summarizes her feelings and emotion after leaving the pharmacy by crying and give the reason, “so stupid”. “Over the kindness of the pharmacist”. The writer continues to tell her story in the conclusion. The writer should have restated her thesis and points in new words, tie up loose ends and leave the readers with something to think about.

    Perhaps the most distinctive indication of a great short story is the ability of an author to develop an important internal theme in order to portray a specific message to the audience about the nature of reality. In the short stories, “The Yellow Wallpaper” and “An Act of Vengeance” written by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and Isabel Allende respectively, there exists a common internal theme of female powerlessness.
