Mary Elizabeth Rickel is the most caring person anyone could ever meet. When my Grandma Cheryl, (my mom's mom) died of cancer, my mom was only 16. My Great Grandma Rickel took care of my mom like she was her own child. Then when my mom had me at 18, I was an "accident" and my mom wasn't ready to raise a kid. My Grandma Rickel took me in as her own to raise. I lived with my grandma for a while and was treated the best I've ever been treated by anyone. Despite having three of her own children she has cared for more than just her own. She has also cared for three of my cousins. My cousins Spencer and Shane, didn't always agree with their dad, and my grandma would be there for them whenever they needed her. Also my cousin Courtney lost her mom to cancer when she was 16, and ever since then my grandma has been there for her whenever she needed someone to talk to or to just be with her.
My Great Grandma Rickel also is the most loving person anyone could ever come in contact with, due to the fact that she puts everyone before herself. There have been times when she would go shopping with her grandkids and would want something for herself really bad but wouldn't buy it, because she would rather buy her grandkids something. I remember one time when she was on her way to Houston, Texas for her daughters chemotherapy and they stopped at a gas station to fill up with gas and use the restroom. There was a man in there asking people for money to feed his kids because he had lost his job. My grandma and my Aunt Donna felt awful for this man and then my grandma ended up giving the man fifty dollars. When she told me this story, she said that she did it because she thought God was giving her a sign to do it, even though she had her doubts of where they money would really be going. She would also try and help any one of the family members with anything they needed before she would do something for herself.
One more terrific quality that my Grandma Rickel has is that she is loyal and honest. If she said that she would come to something and what time she was going to be there, then she will do anything she can to arrive there on time. She also would give anyone who asked great honest advice on anything they wanted to talk to her about, and the best thing about talking to her about your problems is that she listens. No matter how boring this person is she will always pretend to be interested and no one would even be able to tell.
Out of all the people I have met in my lifetime, My Great Grandma Rickel is the person that I admire the most and will continue to be for some great time if not forever. There are many more qualities that makes her the outstanding person she is and I hope everyone has someone in their life like my grandma. I love her so much for being who she is!

Grandma Arlene answers all of my questions, no matter the subject. She answers my Broadway questions, politics, and even culture questions. When she does not know the answer to my question, which is hardly ever, we research it and find the answers ourselves. My grandma gives me great advice. She always tells me right from wrong, and what to do to make my parents happy. Another thing she does is tells us great life lessons. One great life lesson she taught me was “You have to fight through some bad days to earn the best days of your life”. I live by this lesson every day. She taught me that you may have many bad days, but that is what makes the good days even better. My grandma, the “wise owl”, is great at telling us many lessons to live by and great at answering my…

Mrs. Guillemet helped me a lot in 5th grade when life was dreadful for me. Mrs. Guillemet helped me out when my grandma had open heart surgery and didn’t make it. That was a horrible time for me because she moved to Michigan with us and lived just a few miles away so I would always see here. But after that surgery I never got to see her again. Another thing that made that even harder for me is that my grandpa from that side of my family died three years earlier so now I have no grandparents on one side of my family. But Mrs. Guillemet being the wonderful teacher she was didn’t give me homework for two weeks after that day when I found out about my grandma. She also didn’t make me do any make up work so this dreadful time…

As a child I was fortunate to know all of my grandparents. Of all of them my paternal grandfather was my favorite grandparent. He was a tough little man, barely five feet six inches tall. He was never excessively over weight but he had a little round belly. He had a beautiful mischievous smile which I found utterly charming. Welding had faded the color of his eyes to the palest blue I had ever seen. He was hardworking, just, fun loving and surprisingly reverent.…

My grandmother was a comprehensive person, she always tried to get into other shoes to understand and never judge, what a learn about this quality she had, is that people sometimes judge when they did not know the reasons of the actions that people did, that always make problems and the way my grand-mother understand people make me realized that is always better not judge if you do not want you to be judge. Also if I did something wrong, she never punished me, for example, when I crush my truck my mother yelled and punished me, and my grandmother just told me that it was an accident and live goes on. She always had the better advices when something goes wrong.…

Warm, friendly, sweet, generous, and kind-hearted; these words cannot describe my grandmother enough, but they are greatly stressed in defining her beautiful character. Her short, black hair resulted in frizzy hair due to her frequent hair-dying. When walking by the kitchen I would see a tiny head of thick hair leveled with the counter, which reminded my grandmother and everyone else of how short she was. Her thin wrinkles extended and multiplied near the corners of her eyes and around her mouth when she smiled and revealed fairly straight and white teeth for a grandmother. I found her smile shy, cute, sweet, and friendly. Her brown eyes reminded me of the same eyes searching for me in the endless games of hide and seek years ago as a little child.…

Interestingly, the person who had the most impact on my life was my grandmother. My grandmother was a retired College Principal, but for me she was always my Grandmother. She taught me the kinds of things that school teachers never could teach in the classroom. Because my parents were at work and my grandmother was retired, I spent a lot of time with her. She was a mother, a grandparent and a teacher at the same time. She always prepared an interesting activity for the day. We visited museums, theatres, went to the zoo, visited the library, watched movies or just stayed at home and did something fun together. She always created the proper schedule with the weather and my age in mind. I loved the way she could find the tone and the language with me, keeping in mind my capacity. She had a good sense of humor and always tried to cheer me up when she saw lack of interest or tiredness. The biggest lesson I learned from her was how to be a happy and independent child. She let my free spirit wander, making me curious and adventurous. She never lectured me or gave me boring speeches; she always found ways to engage my interest through stories and examples from her life.It were very important for her. She wanted my imagination to grow and explore different ideas and topics in my head. When I could not read by myself, she was the one who introduced me to picture books, and when I went to first grade she sat down with me and held my hand during my discovery of reading independently. My Grandmother was the first person who put a pencil in my hand. First we drew and colored together, and then slowly I learned how to form my letters and to write my name down before I started my school education. As I mentioned before, my parents had to work, so my Grandmother picked me up from school everyday. When we arrived home we always had snack and then a little free time before we sat down to do my homework. If I had a difficult assignment, for example from chemistry or physics, we tried…

She took care of her children first before she took care of herself is the second reason why I admire my mother. Taking care of a person is not easy, and taking care of yourself at the same time is even harder. My mother always takes care of me first before she takes care of herself. For example, after a long day of work, she is so tired that she just wanted to go home and have a nap but instead she made dinner for our family, washes our clothes and takes a short time to look at my homework and listens to me complaining about the school, the teacher. Then she gets my bag pack ready for the next day before she can even go take a shower. Nobody has ever done this for me and there will be no one who would do the same thing besides her.…
