Someone who had a significant effect in my life

A person who had a significant effect on my life (positive) One person who had a significant effect on my life was my outstanding grandmother. There was a time I was being evicted from my apartment and my grandmother was right at my rescue. Another, incident that occurred was the car I owned at the time was on the edge of being reposed and my grandmother was there to help me keep my car from repo. Also, when my youngest son was being circumcised she really played a big role in helping with his healing. First of all, when I was being evicted I was young and my mom had just got out of prison and moved in with me. My mother was not the best mother in the world if you know what I mean, but that is still my mother and I love her with all my heart. I quickly learned that was a big mistake and that me and my mother could not live together. My mom had started stealing from me and bringing me down fast and inviting people to my house I did not approve of. Prior to my mother moving in with me I clearly explained to her my rules and regulations and she promised me she would do right by respecting my home, but it was a great downfall. I also had two young babies at time and the expenses of taking care of them, regular bills, and my mom being so incarcerated about my home I was really in need of help and had some what became depressed. So finally, I came to my breaking point when I came home from work one day, and I had an eviction notice on my door. I had fallen behind in my rent trying to take care of my babies as a single parent and paying the necessary bills to run a home. I did not know what else to do but call on my grandmother I explained to her everything that was going on, and her being the great person she is, she caught my rent up for me, but I moved out for a fresh start and it also help me because when the time came for me to move again there would be no evictions on my rental history. Secondly, prior to me moving in with my grandma, my car was “in the red”. I say this because I had fallen behind in my car payment. That really had me ashamed of how bad things had gotten for me and I was also ashamed because I knew once again that I was gone have to go to my grandma for help. My grandmother being the easy going person she is did not bash me and tell me what I should have done and what I should not have done. She gave me over a thousand dollars to send on my car payment. One thing I can say is I paid her back a few months later when I received my tax refund, and when I went to give her the money back she did not even want to take it, so me being the person I am I deposited the money into her checking account without her knowing, because I looked at is as I never know when I would need her again or she might have needed the money at a later time. Last but not least, my youngest son was circumcised at the age of one and I had no idea what to do to make him feel better and not to be in any pain. I was a teen mother so I say I really had no idea on how to really care for a child. My grandmother cared for him the whole time I worked and went to school. When I got home it was my time to be a mother, my grandmother have always had my back and as some of the older people would say she kind of “crippled me”. But I look at is as it made me a better person, because now I am more mature about life and I have learned the value of putting money back. Now when it comes to paying rent and car payments I am on point I plays no games, if I have to rob Peter to pay Paul them to bills are going to be paid. I truly enjoy me and my boys having nice things. In conclusion, my grandmother had and still have a significant effect on my life. She has taught me always try and put some money back if it is nothing but five or ten dollars, what don’t kill you will make your stronger, always strive for the best in life, never settle for less, and always make time for the Lord because if it was not for him we would not even wake up in the mornings to even get our day started. Till this day my grandmother is retired with plenty of money and can go anywhere she want to go in life she let no grass grow up under here feet. As you can see my grandmother had and still have a significant positive effect on my life.

Quite possibly the most impactful event in my life was the death of Harriet Williams. Harriet was a foster mother and a devout Christian. She had fostered six children to adulthood and one of her own. When she stumbled upon me I was only 2 months old and the story she would always tell was and I was so cute that she just had to adopt me but because she didn't want to make the other children jealous she adopted all of them as well. Harriet had enough love in her heart to adopt 7 other boys and two girls all because she loved me. Looking back on it now she probably said that to all of us but it will always be special to me. So for the next 14 years I had a family just like any other family but also unlike any other. My mothers thought was that…

The rent had been pass due for months, but she kept it all to herself trying to protect us. At the age of 16 I was homeless and felt like an orphan. My siblings and I lived with friends, which is where we stayed for the next year. The month of September felt like the worst month of my life and it lasted even longer. Of course, our father was nowhere to be found and too busy self-medicating to care. After several days we would go and visit my mom at the behavioral center. We would go a lot more often than I wanted with everything that had happened. It seems like a horrible thing to say or feel, but when we were evicted, I had the responsibility of packing and cleaning. Almost all of our pets had been given away except for two and they lived in a cage outside someone’s house. I can’t even remember the day a bunch of people came to help move our things to several different storage places. The stress of that was so intense, I must have blocked it out of my…

A person who has had a significant influence on me in my life would have to be my former foster mother, Miss Barbara Pratt. Ms. Pratt was a foster mother to many children before myself and she had had wonderful success with most of them. Social Services worked very hard to find me a home that would help me adjust to a ‘normal’ life as quickly and easily as possible. They found the home my older sister had been placed in, they contacted Ms. Pratt and I was placed in her care.…
