    Dr David Colby Summary

    • 746 Words
    • 3 Pages

McMurtry says that Colby’s medical study relies heavily on infectious diseases and science. McMurtry’s field of expertise is never called into question. The reader still relies on McMurtry’s knowledge of being a dean. There is no suggestion or implication that McMurtry contains enough medical knowledge to be studying the matter. There is however a claim that he has spent “three thousand hours on the issue and made a YouTube video…” which again does not necessarily infer that he holds any extra or stronger significance in the study. Dr. Colby actually reviews two separate studies, one for Chatham-Kent and another with a group of scientists. While McMurtry believes that this is not a science issue and rather an audio physical matter that Colby is not qualified to provide expertise, this is not the case. To support one’s knowledge or qualifying someone as “expert”, McMurtry attempts to eliminate the perception that Colby is appropriate for this field of study based on his credentials. However, McMurtry’s credentials or medical history suggest more. It also pointed out by Colby that McMurtry was trained in orthopedic surgery, despite McMurtry trying to eliminate his background knowledge. Also, an American doctor that McMurtry acquired to testify claims she suffered from ailments near wind turbines and that they…
