Mother Teresa was a nun teaching at the Loreto Convent in India, when she traveled to Calcutta, and saw the slums in that city. She immediately felt called to go and serve the poorest of the poor there, and after a couple years, received permission and headed off to Calcutta. She immediately began her work there, and gave her entire life to it. As a result, Malcolm Muggeridge wrote a biography about her, called Something Beautiful for God. Some say that he did not write it well, for he was not impartial. However, it is important for biographies to be inspiring rather than impartial, because biographies written about inspiring people deserve to be inspiring, they give readers power to do right, and they are a testimony for good.
If they are inspiring, they will be more truthful. Mother Teresa gave an inspiring example of compassion to the poorest of the poor. If her biography was not written in that way, then it would be misleading to the readers, for the reason that they would not know the truth of what she was honestly like. She gave her entire life into serving the poor. She rejected the peaceful gardens, mild climate, and attentive students at the Loreto Convent to share the love of God to the untaught poor in the dirty, humid, hot climate of Calcutta, India.
