Son's Wedding Speech: Mother's Wedding
Ladies and gentlemen unfortunately it is time for a select few of us to arise from our chairs and entertain you with witty banter and stories reflecting on the bride and groom. So whilst I am sure the remaining speakers are DESPERATE to get up and give their respective speeches you will have to bear with me. As Henry V111 said to each of his wives in turn, “I won’t keep you very long.”

As this is my first wedding let alone my first wedding speech I was given very specific instructions from those in greater authority as to what I am allowed to say. As such I did what any self-respecting human being would do... try to write my own speech... fail miserably then steal one from the Internet. So welcome to Kim and Trevors wedding.

For those who do not know me I'm Jacob, Lucy’s eldest son and I've been given the great honor of giving my beautiful mother away to Ben. At this moment in time I am full of admiration and pride for the commitment they have both made today and one day hope to follow in the example they have set. Although when I get married I'll do it for one of the real reasons... pregnancy, for money.... or with a gun to my head.

Firstly I wish to convey my heartfelt thanks to everyone in attendance today particularly those who have travelled some distance to be with us on Lucy and Ben special day I know I speak for my entire family when I say thank you.

During the time we’ve known Ben we’ve come to realize how much he means to Mum. He is a different, loud, sexist man but at least he has all ten fingers. Even so, when you see how gorgeous my mother looks today, it proves the one thing I’ve always known about Ben – he is clearly a man of vision … often blurred, sometimes doubled, but nonetheless a man of vision who’s been lucky enough to find my mother. So it’s a pleasure, Ben to formally welcome you into our family and I know it’s a cliché, but I would like to say that today we haven’t lost a mother, we’ve gained a true blue Australian– every

I arrived to a church crowded with friends and family. So many people had gone to St. John’s Cathedral to witness the simple, yet elegant, tradition. There were also relatives from Mexico and Puerto Rico who took the long tiring trip to attend. I was honored to see so many people there on my special day. My court of honor led the way into the church. When it was my turn to walk down the aisle, soft music was played by the organist. I felt like a princess walking in my big, beautiful ball gown. My gown was similar to a wedding dress except it was a pastel pink. When the ceremony started it was nerve racking. I was thinking about my hair and people staring at me from behind, and hoping my tiara or…

I listened as Trina spoke about love, marriage, God’s will for husband and wife, and lead the reciting of the vows. Trina prayed over their marriage that God would bless them, and then present them to us for the first time as Mr. and Mrs. Anderson. When we all stood up watching them leave the church, everyone was a bit surprised when the entire wedding party jumped off the stage and danced down the aisle to “Float On” by Modest Mouse.…

Hi, I’m Emily Astle; I’m the bride's older sister and maid of honor. I’m so proud of my sister for finding the right man for her. I knew right away he was perfect for her; it was amazing seeing her face light up whenever she talked about Shawn. As you might know, my sister never shies away from love. It reminds me of our snuggle times. Even though I didn't always want her affection, I'm glad she ignored my requests. It would have prevented our deep talks in the hammock during snuggle time; those talks helped me get to know my sister better. Some of my favorite memories are with my sister, from hanging upside down in the hammock to swing dancing together. She taught me and others the virtue of unconditional…

For the past eight years, I’ve seen you at your best and at your worst. I’ve seen you walk into the room in a towel, and today, we leave this church as husband and wife. I still remember asking you to be my girlfriend. You had that same cheesy smile that you definitely have on your face at this very moment, just because I know you’re thinking about it. I remember my heart racing as I asked you back when we were only seventeen years old. My heart raced just as fast when I asked you to marry me. I even remember those butterflies I got before picking you up for our dates. And here you are, standing before…

To be walking down the aisle, meeting eyes with the man I love with the entirety of my heart and he shares a smile, but it’s not me who’s he waiting for. He looks exceptionally handsome in his black and white tux, I concluded while staring at him on the sidelines(always the on the sidelines I bitterly thought). Moments later, the wedding march begins. The march, “Here Comes the Bride,” never felt more real because it was reality settling; I wasn’t his bride, and he wasn’t my groom.…
