SONA Reaction
Honeylyn L. Centeno BSBA MM 2-1D
Reaction Paper: SONA 2015
Number of Words: 297

Monday, July 27, 2015 our president Benigno Aquino III stated his SONA or State of the Nation Address for the sixth time which is considered as the longest SONA he delivered since he start his presidency. I just want to say that I like it when he delivered his speech in Filipino. Because it is our own language and not everyone understand English therefore using this language will make it understandable for all the people in our nation. But some of the President’s statement in his speech seems to be not real, a fantasy because I cannot feel it. I can’t feel that we are now developing, that our country now is rising. It doesn’t reflect the way the people here in our country live. Also, I don’t like the way he compares his year of presidency to the past president instead he should just focus on how to really improve the life of each people that he governs to. The positive side of his speech for me is that the government is really now moving to remove the corruption in their system that they are not afraid of facing their co-worker, exposing the dirty jobs of some authorities. With the actions they do about the different problems our country is facing. For doing his best in changing our nation. Sadly to say accidents are really uncontrollable, you never knew when something bad will happen even though you have done everything you could to prevent it. Just like what happen in Mamasapano where lots of people died. It’s just so good to hear that those people who died had given an honorarium. All in all to summarize my reaction I could say that President Aquino’s SONA is thumbs up for me despite of some flaws in it.

My conclusion about Obama speech is very good. It is important to keep calm and maintain your tone and speed when you are talking. The eye contact is very good, He only look briefly at the note and looking back to the audience very quickly. The speech is short and straight to the main point that he wants to thank all sacrifice that has been made by all people. He point…

His death was the root and the very cause of the first ever Filipino movement, it made them prove or even people across the globe, that we, Filipinos can unite and fight for what we think is right. And so, it should be our motivation that we should also act and move as one if there’s another problem still yet to come. The movement also proved, that we can still be united, and I hope that in years to come, if there will be a problem that needs our unity to resolved, we can still act like that.…

This is the highlight of the fifth State of the Nation Address by His Excellency Benigno Simeon Aquino III. The stand of believing in the democracy, believing that people with the government can make a change within his term. Since the death of his parents, the legacy still continues and I guess the legacy is in his heart believing that it’s not too late for changes in the Philippine government setting and also the economic and social status of the country.…

The simple yet notably patriotic statement of the president earned the applause of the participants at the conference, in which hopefully the Filipinos appreciated it - regardless of their political stand about his administration. Come to think of it, it would be wonderful if the statement “I love the Philippines more” is likewise uttered – loud and proud – by every Filipino; with the ‘loving part’ put into action in perpetuum.…
