Dela Cruz, Bernadette L. July 25,2013

Reaction Paper: State of the Nation Address 2013 “Sa Gitna ng Daang Matuwid” The fourth annual State of the Nation Address of President Benigno Simeon “PNoy” Aquino III was delivered last Monday, July 22, 2013 in Batasang Pambansa Complex, Quezon City with its very famous theme “Sa Gitna ng Daang Matuwid.” It started at exactly 4:03pm and ended 5:46pm. It takes almost one and a half hour to bring to the public the longest SONA he had ever made gathering a total of 88 applauses from government officials and important personalities in the country. PNoy’s speech was very comprehensive since it almost tackled all important issues in our country and he made it more specific by using numbers and certain rates to prove the progressing economy. He also confidently mentioned his administration’s great achievements and accomplishments on different aspects of our society particularly the political and economic aspects. Included in his successful administration were the program Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pilipino Program commonly known as the 4Ps, producing more TESDA scholars, housing programs for informal settlers (main cause of flooding). The President also mentioned the domination of his senatorial candidates in May 2013 elections proving that he has regained the trust of the Filipino people in the presidency. He also made thankful remarks for the police officers with their great acts and also other department secretaries and extended his praises to the exemplary public servants. He ended his speech by saying he was proud to be a Filipino and it is wonderful to be a Filipino in these times. In my own view towards the delivery of his speech, I was a little bit dismay since we have heard in his own mouth strongly –worded criticisms that hit other government officials and agencies like the Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Immigration and National Irrigation

Since the early days of the Christian Tradition, it has been ever-changing due to the contributions, guidance and influence of significant people or schools of thought. Feminist theologians have greatly influenced the Christian Tradition, as their main goal is to acquire a voice for all women in the religious traditions that they each belong to. (Christian Bible Reference, 2013) Throughout the history of the Christian Tradition, men have constantly been represented as more knowledgeable and deserving of leadership roles in the church. This lack of equality is not seen as at all acceptable by feminist theologians, and is something they continue to work on to achieve an improved church for future generations. In addition to this, the way in which women are represented in the bible, both in a positive and negative light, contradict and do not align with how women in the Christian Tradition today are treated. Finally, the way in which feminist theologians have impacted the day to day life of adherents will be discussed.…

Come to think of it, it would be wonderful if the statement “I love the Philippines more” is likewise uttered – loud and proud – by every Filipino; with the ‘loving part’ put into action in perpetuum.…
