This song is about people who have died while dedicating their lives to equality of all men and used nonviolent methods to achieve it. There are several allusions, one being to Christ as a man when he was crucified for the good of man but did not fight back. Another allusion is to Martin Luther King and his assassination in Memphis. This song is a tribute to his great work in the civil rights movement. The lyrics are a reminder of martyrs and how they dedicated their lives to showing others God’s love.
