FOr starters the main themes of both songs are fairly similar. “Az Yashir” and the “Song of Deborah” both are about winning battles with help from Hashem. Even more specifically help from Hashem using the miracles of water and flooding. In the “Song of Deborah” he uses rains and floods to help defeat the canaanites, while in “Az Yashir” he uses the waves to crush the Egyptians. Next, both songs praise Hashem in a similar way. Each song begins with an introductory few “verses” praising God, along with sporadic gratitude throughout the song. One of the most interesting similarities of these two comes in the way they were written. Both songs are written in poem form, using very imagery driven writing with personification and metaphors. The actual writing structure, however, is divided into three columns with one thick column in the middle and two on the sides that vary in size. This structure is only used very rarely in Judaism. The setup and execution of the events happening in both songs shares a striking comparison as well. In both cases the jews are supposed to triumph over their enemies and in both cases they do. The differences are obvious. Because they take place in very different times, the characters are all different besides for Moshe. Moshe is a main character and “Az Yashir” and is slightly alluded to in the “Song of Deborah” by talking about Mount Sinai. The setting is also …show more content…
FOr me, I find this song inspirational because I feel the singer is speaking to me. The song’s chorus in particular is the most inspirational. I feel like the singer wants me to be successful and is hoping for me to achieve my dreams. The most inspirational part is when it says, “And when you get it all just remember one thing, remember one thing, one man could change the world.” I feel this line has a lot of truth to it and can serve anyone well in life to try to follow it. Go after your dreams and if you achieve them try to help other people achieve their dreams and change the world. At the very end of the song, there are line from Sean speaking on the phone to his grandmother. His grandma thanks him for calling and thinking of her. I have a great relationship with my grandparents and this hits home for some reason. I think the reason it is in the song though is to try and show people that giving attention to the elderly is helping the world. This song does not relate much to the biblical songs. That is because those songs preach love and belief in God, while “One Man Can Change the World” focusses more on love and belief in yourself. Saying that, it doesn’t make the biblical songs any less inspirational. While belief in yourself is crucial in whatever you do, belief in Hashem is just as important. For that reason I do believe that biblical songs are inspiring to me because they are very upfront
