Sons Of China Monologue
I, Bin Yang, like all the other 10,000 soldiers camped along side me in the bitter cold of winter, could not get any sleep. We were all too anxious for the battle that was to take place when the sun arose. Just before the dawn broke, the camp was in dismay. There was a rush to prepare for battle, as the enemy was approaching quickly. With the enemy mere minutes away, the scramble to prepare was complete. As we observed, and heard, the enemy slowly approaching, fear rang in the hearts of every soldier. We thought we were prepared, but we quickly realized that we were not. We stood there, petrified with fear. We had no clue to what we should do. Our superiors tried everything they could to instill courage in us. When the enemy was within …show more content…
“Thank you” was all I could say. Suddenly, all of our soldiers started to retreat. The one who saved my life yelled out, “Brave Sons of China, follow me!” These 6 words brought out the hero in all of us. The one who saved my life suddenly broke the enemy line with his courage. The enemy fled! We had won the battle! The man who saved me, who’s name was Ming Yao, was promoted to general. The next ten years went by in a flash. Ming was promoted to general and side by side, we won a hundred battles. He created a lasting legacy for himself. The emperor soon learned about the hero and invited him to his palace to give him land and a easy job that pays very, very, well- for little work. Much to everyone’s surprise, he said, “I don’t desire wealth or the minister’s post, I must return to my father. Just speed me on my way home.” The emperor agreed and word was sent home to his father. There was a big feast to be prepared. Ming went ahead. Soon after, we followed suit. When I arrived, I was surprised to see my fearless general was really a woman!? I beelined toward her. “We fought side by side, you were a warrior with no fear. How many times had you saved my life? We were comrades and best friends! Let’s become husband and wife,” I

It saddens me to hear about the complete lack of value to the war effort put on by this small group of Americans. That key leaders given the authority to effect change sit idle while lives are lost. But then, as I stomach that blow, I focus on their true grit, their courage, their resolve, their valor, the bravery, their fearlessness, their dedication, the sheer tenacity of these Hero’s, and I am reminded of why our country is so great. God bless those that lost their lives in this battle, and the families that they left…

In Brian Turner’s poem, “Perimeter Watch”, a cautious solider returns to the comforts of their civilian home and community after serving in combat. Though their establishment is precisely the same as it was when they left; their own selves and inner thoughts are forever engraved with the routine(s), order(s) and repression of war. Therefore, making it difficult for the solider to grasp true reality.…

My loyalty and commitment to our government would also inspire me to continue on in those harsh conditions. Battle is the most magnificent competition in which a human being can indulge. It brings out all that is best; it removes all that is base. All men are afraid of battle. The coward is the one who lets his fear overcome his sense of duty. Duty is the essence of manhood.-George S. Patton.…

Mr. Lederer and Mr. Burdick wrote the Ugly American many decades ago and it is a story that holds many truths of how we act and operate in today’s society. This fictional work displayed characters that truly understood many of the Special Operation Forces (SOF) imperatives. Louis Krupitzyn, John Colvin and Major Wolchek represented the SOF imperatives of understanding the operational environment, anticipating and controlling psychological effects, operating with and through others, considering the long term effects, facilitating interagency activities, and engaging the threat discriminately. I will combine my own experiences and those of these three characters in The Ugly American. I will demonstrate how the SOF imperatives influenced their behavior and how I approached situations during my time in Special Forces.…

It was 115 degrees; the platoon was walking through the middle of the desert each of them with 40 pounds of gear on and an M16A2 rifle. It was summer time in the country of Afghanistan and the temperature was rising. At this point I asked myself what the hell I am doing here and why did I join the United States Army? Right when I was thinking that I felt a tug on my leg and there stood a young boy about 7 years old with only one arm, “Candy,Candy” he asked. Upon speaking with the local villagers we found out that his arm was taken from an improvised explosive device (IED) planted there by the rebeles that wanted to “rid their country of the weak”. That is when it occurred to me that I was here to protect my country from those that think that we are weak.…

When confronted with conflict, peoples moral centre can cause them to act in heroic ways. When we are exposed to war and devastation our reactions to this......... Thousands of Chinese students gathered in a peaceful protest for basic Democratic reform at Tiannaman Square 1984. Due to these actions they were senselessly and inhumanely killed in cold blood by the Chinese Military. The students were unarmed and in no way of a danger to anyone. This devastation shocked the world and erupted massive conflict. One thing that this devastation proved to the world that during times of conflict where ones moral compass is tested there true heroism is revealed. A small, unexceptional figure in pants and white shirt, looking tiny next to the hulking tanks, carrying what looks to be his shopping, positions himself before an approaching tank, with a line of 17 more tanks behind it. The tank swerves right, he moves in front again. The tank swerves left, he moved in front again. Then this anonymous bystander climbs up onto the vehicle of war and says something to its driver, "Why are you here? My city is in chaos because of you." With a single act of defiance, a lone Chinese hero revived the world's image of courage. He was the “unknown rebel” also know as the Tanks Man a man who was immensely courageous and a beacon of hope. The courage that it took to walk out against such massive machinery, knowing good and well that it could very well be your last day on this earth is inspiring. He took courage to a whole new level, becoming a world hero of sorts. This ordinary everyday man had stood up to one of largest of armies which was an undeniably, extraordinary act. Another man who stood up for what he believed in response to such brutal and callous acts was a man named Bradley Manning. A man who new his moral obligation was to show the world what the Government was hiding from them. Manning was an…

Fellow military soldiers, we gather on this fine day before the start of what Mr. President states will be a short win for this great country. Winston Churchill, a great leader of Britain during The Second World War. One of his adventures include getting captured by the Boers, then a daring escape thru a bathroom window. This made Churchill a celebrity and hero to Britain. He states during a speech from The Second World War what I am trying to summarizing to the brave men and women in front of me with, “We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.” I need for all of you to defend our island. I need for all of you to fight on the beaches. I need for all of you to fight on the landing grounds. I…
