The American Revolution was a war for consolidation. Prior to gaining independence from Britain, the American colonies were under different social classes. This brought distress amongst the poor because they were the ones who suffered the most. To counter that, many groups combined to form unification to break their alliance from Britain. In chapter 4 of Tyranny is Tyranny, he states, “In North Carolina, a “regulator Movement” of white farmers was organized against wealthy and corrupt officials in the period from 1766 to 1771” (Zinn). These group of people were oppressed by the rich. The “Regulators” resented the tax system making adjustments to new laws that were in favor for them. This is significant because this is where the beginning of…
Shays' Rebellion is the name given to a series of protests in 1786 and 1787 by American farmers against state and local enforcement of tax collections and judgments for debt. Although farmers took up arms in states from New Hampshire to South Carolina, the rebellion was most serious in Massachusetts, where bad harvests, economic depression, and high taxes threatened farmers with the loss of their farms. The rebellion took its name from its symbolic leader, Daniel Shays of Massachusetts, a former captain in the Continental army.…
The Sons of Liberty decided to harass a couple of British Soldiers Stationed at Boston. The Soldiers had no choice but to fire on the crowd killing a few people, this was called the Boston massacre. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries colonial America experienced a number of rebellions by various groups for a variety of reasons. The protests took place in Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New York. Each protest began for a different reason, however, all involved the discontent that some groups underwent in the colonies. Some of the most notable rebellions include Bacon's Rebellion, The Regulator Uprising, Leislor's Rebellion, Culpepper's Rebellion, and the Paxton Boys Uprising.…
After officials in Boston refused to return three shiploads of taxed tea to Britain, a group of colonists from a political group called the Sons of Liberty boarded the ships and destroyed the tea by throwing it into Boston Harbor. The colonists believed that the Tea Act, (the act which imposed the taxes) violated their rights as citizens; hence, causing indignation throughout the city of Boston. Although protesters had successfully prevented the unloading of taxed tea in three other colonies, Boston’s obstinate Governor Thomas Hutchinson refused to allow the tea to be returned to Britain, which resulted in the already vexed colonists to commence a revolution that would bring havoc to the British government. The colonist’s rage towards the Parliament was fundamentally fired from Britain’s demand to have absolute control over the colonies, and the Tea Act proved to be the last straw. The British Parliaments strong desire for power over the colonies, resulted in their downfall as misuse of power nearly always starts a…
Sons of Liberty dressed as Mohawk Natives and boarded British ships filled with tea. They broke open the cases of tea and spilled out the tea into the Boston Harbor. I heard that they destroyed 342 cases of tea. The Sons of Liberty tried to show their anger towards the Tea Act. Due to their immature actions, the Boston Harbor was closed and more soldiers were sent over to monitor the colonists. They have wasted a humongous amount of money, so now they have to face the consequences. Britain had the right to punish the colonists from Boston. They could have done another boycott or protest, but not a foolish action like this.…
Boston Tea Party occurred on a winter night of Thursday, December 16, 1773. It was a pre-revolutionary event of a direct protest that the colonialists used the tea tax that was levied by the British government. The Boston party resulted due to the resentment that the British colonialist had towards the Boston colonists. During the event, the Patriots were dressed as Mohawk Indians and attacked the British ships in the Boston harbor. After raiding the three ships, the Patriots dumped 342 containers of tea into the harbor. The group of Patriots, who were also called the Sons of Liberty, organized the incident and was led by Samuel Adams. It was composed of males from all the parts of the colonial society ('Boston Tea Party').…
Then on December 16th, 1773 people were angered by the Tea Act so that is how the Boston Tea Party came about. American patriots were disguised as Mohawk Indians dump East India Company tea into the Boston harbor. From May to June in 1774, the Intolerable Acts were four measures which stripped Massachusetts of self-government and judicial independence following the Boston Tea Party. The colonies responded with a general boycott of British goods. April 19th, 1775, Battles of Lexington and Concord were the first engagements of the Revolutionary War between British troops and the Minutemen, who had been warned of the attack by Paul Revere. Also in 1775 on June 17th, the Battle of Bunker Hill was the first major battle of the War of Independence. Sir William Howe dislodged William Prescott’s forces overlooking Boston at a cost of 1054 British casualties to the Americans’ 367. The British wanted to regulate the tea trade in America. This aroused colonial traders. The citizens wanted the ships to return back as they did not want to pay taxes on tea. On 16th December 1773, a group of men disguised themselves and sneaked into three British ships and jettisoned all the tea into the water.…
On December 16, 1773 a group of men from the Massachusetts colony had boarded three British tea ship as Mohawk Indians. They were protesting the taxes that the British had put in place on tea and had dumped 342 chests of tea in the harbor. In 1773, the Parliament passed the Tea Act, which made the price of the company’s tea even with the tax included cheaper than that of smuggled Dutch tea. The tea was imported, which was a major problem; it began to take money and jobs away from the Americans. But, the act did provide financial relief for the British East Indian Company, which was deeply in debt because of the military expeditions to extend Britain’s influence in India. The Tea Party Act offended many Americans since 1768, “the use of British tea is considered not as a private but public evil…” (qtd. Massachusetts Spy Henretta 153). The American merchants joined the protest against the East Indian Company because they excluded the Americans from the trade since they started distributing the tea directly to shopkeepers. In response to the Tea Act, an event occurred in Boston in 1773. When a new shipment of tea was waiting to be unloaded in Boston Harbor, a group of colonists disguised as Native Americans boarded the ship, breaking open the crates and dumping the tea in the water. Colonists later argued about whether this event should be celebrated as a protest against oppression or if it was simply foolish destruction of property. In response a displeased Lord North convinced…

While consignees in Charleston, New York, and Philadelphia all very much rejected tea shipments, merchants in boston refused to concede to patriot pressure because they don’t want to sell the tea of traitors. On the night of December 16,1773, Samuel Adams and the Sons of Liberty…

Items such as parliament, sugar, and tea were heavily taxed in order to help Britain pay for debt caused by the French and Indian War, and the colonists didn't want to pay it, therefore they rebelled. An event that occurred here greatly influenced the American Revolution was the Boston Tea Party. The Boston Tea Party was a protest against the high tea prices within the colonies in 1773.
