Sophia's Alternate Ending
An empty void surrounded her as if it ate at her soul. Ever since that day, she couldn't remember a time she didn’t feel like this. When the doctors told her that she'd never be able to run competitively again. Her dreams crumbled, and the scholarships vanished. There was something more, but no matter how hard she tried, Sophia couldn’t recall what it was. Her parents didn’t understand, nor did her friends. A very different piece of her had vanished, ripped straight from her hands. Nothing could bring it back; could it?
How strange, Sophia thought. She never said such words, yet, they continued to fill her head until she couldn’t think of anything else. It wasn’t impossible, at least if people were willing to do it. Sophia wanted to remember,

Subscribing Sophia medication and sent her to see a physiologist. Nothing helped, not the medicine, nor the shrink. Eventually, her grades began to fall, and school felt pointless, soon Sophia stopped going all together. Instead she spent her days wandering around town, or holed up in her room. No matter how hard she tried, the hill grew steeper, until, she found herself here in perpetual darkness.

A light chuckle filled the air around her. The darkness seemed to rattle alongside the laughter. Patches of light began to seep through, a golden flame that filled her body with warmth. I would be in the wrong profession if I didn’t.”

The raven-haired woman mused as she place the cup between her lips. Sophia gazed into her cup for a moment before she followed suite. In that instant, her overwhelming feelings seemed to fade. And for once in what felt like an eternity, a heavy weight lifted from her shoulders.

“What you’re searching for is no longer a part of your world. Would you still like to know, regardless of this fact?” The raven-haired woman asked as she set her drink down with a small clink sound.

Sophia pressed her lips together as she lowered her head and gazed at the liquid. None of this made any sense, at least it shouldn’t have. But right now, it was the only thing that did make sense.

“Will…the headaches go away? If I say yes, will everything go back to the way it was?” Sophia asked.

“That depends on you,” the raven-haired woman answered with a shrug.

Sophia looked back up at the woman as she clenched the cup tightly in her hands. This situation, it was all too familiar, yet, she like everything else lately, she couldn’t remember why.

“I want to

She couldn’t see anything, she couldn’t feel anything either. It was dark, but she could make out enough details to know that she was in a room. The only source of light was something that reminded her of one of those fancy lightbulbs that she seen on comercials, and from what she could see, the cell had a stone doorway glowed a faint red light. The last thing that she remembered was watching herself go with Arnold, then everything after that faded. That emptiness that she felt was still ever-present.…
