Sophomore Year
Sophomore Year
Brooklyn White

The sophomore class at Robert C Byrd is up to activity on their High School careers. Even though it feels like they were just preparing themselves for their first day of high school yesterday. “It is always weird trying to plan your future at your sophomore year, but it helps a lot because it gets practice in when you have to do it alone”, said senior Alisia Moore. Many students joke around this age don’t take everything serious but it is the most important time of your life.
The first two six weeks has flown by already for the sophomores as they have already pre- ordered their class rings! Most were confused and wondered as though why they were ordering their class rings so early when they would not be graduating until two more years. Usually you do not order your ring until your junior year of high school but now since the class rings are not as popular as they used to be when our parents were teenagers they are using the rings as a motivation ring. That way when you wake up every morning and put on the ring you see the year 2016. It will help motivate you more to work hard to succeed to your goal and graduating on time with your class.
Put under pressure yet excitement the sophomore class yet then moves onto the next step. Name by name students get called down one week to go take their ACT prep test. This happens every year, students get called down by homeroom to take four basic test to determine how many years, and what they need to do to succeed their goals. This is a four subject basic test that is taken all morning. The ACT prep test does not take much but it is nothing to joke around about. After the results come back in January a guest speaker will call down your homerooms once again and go over your test and what it means individual with everyone. The ACT prep test helps a lot as a sophomore because practicing will help when they go take the actual test.
The things sophomores go through might not seem important but these

Now as a senior on his way to graduate I can’t believe how quickly time has gone. I guess Ms. Burnett was right, senior year does fly by. Though his year was quick it was also difficult. Reason for that was because I was assigned one of the hardest projects I’ve ever had to do. That project was a thesis paper. My thesis paper was about a firefighter policy regarding first responders in 9/11. The paper helped me with my ability to investigate the world because I had to learn more about how 9/11 affected first responders and civilians. I also developed college and career readiness skills by being able to learn how to effectively cite any material from reliable sources. This skill will be extremely useful in future classes in college for thesis…

If you had to choose between going to the biggest party of the year, or studying for a test, which would you choose? The students who choose to attend the party will more than likely be unprepared to pass the test. As for the small percentage of students who choose to study for the test, they will have an advantage in succeeding . Many students here at Clinton junior college would rather go to the party than hit the books to study for the test. According to the Clinton Junior College Academic Dean Mrs. Janis Pendleton, many students here at Clinton Junior College fail when students do not set realistic education and career goals; when students are unorganized and don’t take good class notes; they are on the road to fail (personal interview). I agree with Dean Pendleton’s comments, however; they’re three main reasons students fail here at Clinton Junior College. These reasons consist of incomplete assigned work; not attentive in class; and not making wise decision.…

In our text iconography is the practice of understanding symbolism in art and is one aspect of visual literacy. When one can understand visual literacy and the roles of the artist, then this will deepen their appreciation of art. Artists usually emulate their own feelings and emotions onto their artwork.…

High-School is the greatest point in our life. It is the time of growth as well as challenges too. Completing my high-school studies from Guinness Int’l Higher Secondary School which is located at Kathmandu, Nepal was one of the memorable experience of my life. As a high-school student there, I get to enjoy and utilize different range of facilities like extra curriculum activities, computer lab, library, sports etc. which helped me a lot throughout my studies too. However, I still remember going to Guinness High School wearing the same compulsory school uniform or dress which I particularly dislike the most. Therefore, If I could change one thing about my high school then it would definitely be the uniform compulsion rule which was like a headache to every student.…
