The damaged castle is no longer a problem, the comical relief from the beach ball hitting you in the face has changed the expressions and feelings your son has.
Times like this is what makes the beach such a special place to me. No matter how bad of a day at work you had, how many arguments you have had with your significant other, all the stress of your daily life is forgotten when you?re at the beach. Sit back enjoy the gentle breeze, the cool mist from the ocean, the laughter heard in the background and smile, because you?re at the beach.

1. Hughes uses a metaphor to present the conflict, when he describes soldier uniform as “raw seamed hot khaki”. The use of the word “raw” implies pain and suffering as well as being hot and uncomfortable. It shows the reader how badly the soldiers were treated in WW1 as even their uniforms caused discomfort. Every seam of the uniform is painful.…

One morning, we decided to go out with some of the guests from the hostel for a hike along the hills by the seashore. These hills were covered in thick blades of grass but had rock faces that were pointed out towards the water. If you looked to your left you’d see these hills go for miles; mound after mound, circular shaped huts with cone shaped roofs sitting on top. African trees as well, looking as if the wind was blowing all the branches to one side of the trunk but they stood absolutely still; frozen in time. To your right you’d see the ocean go out for as far as you can see, while standing on a cliff with an almost vertical drop. From looking at the cliffs from the sides, it showed the many trails descending down the cliffs made by mountain goats and every once and a while you could see one half way down; climbing up. Although our surroundings were incredible, the heat was as well. We went through several bottles of water through-out the hike. Our leader, an African local, lead us down one of the more climbable hills to the ocean floor where it was covered in rock. With the sun beating down on us we felt trapped because we couldn’t swim in the water, the waves were too strong we’d be thrown up against the rocks.…

I ran outside to find one of the most beautiful sights I had ever seen. The long stretch of sand was pure white and sparkled in the sun as if it had glitter mixed in with it. It almost looked like snow. The sand was hot on my feet as I walked down the beach to the water. I could hear it squeak a little with every foot step. As I…

As Bethany Hamilton once said, "Being out there in the ocean, God's creation, is like a gift he has given us to enjoy." The smell of grilled hot dogs lingered in the hot, Summer air from the boardwalk, and I smiled because I knew that it was going to be a wonderful day. To begin, I ran towards the luscious, majestic waves as they kissed the shoreline. For example, the waves came crashing down onto the sand with such a powerful force. As I began to run closer to the ocean, my feet touched the jewel- blue water, making my body shiver. Next, I looked around the crowded beach at all of the kids playing, noticing how much fun they were having. For instance, I could hear the waves splashing and the children playing on this hot Summer day. The sand…

Quickly turning the corner, I strode down the alleyway and escaped the pandemonium of the city. The alley was dark and had an eerie look. Old vines climbed up the sides of tall apartment buildings and trash was strewn across the ground. I looked to the ground and saw a dated coca-cola bottle whose label was half gone and the glass was almost stained black. Slowly I bent down and picked up the bottle and began weighing it my hand and looking it over. Still capped and full but it did not seem to be liquid any longer. I continued walking down the alleyway, all the while flipping the glass bottle in my hand. It mesmerized me and I carried on like this for several minutes unaware of the world around me. Out the corner of my eye I noticed a stray cat pouncing on his prey. In that moment, the bottle dropped to the ground and…

Walking around the beach made me feel more comfortable than ever. As I stroll along, I could feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. The sand looked clean like sugar spread out for miles, as it squished between our toes and made my calves ache with every step. The sound of the ocean comforted me, the rhythmic pounding of the waves represses all my worries. I kicked the water and it responded with a swoosh of its waves. That brought back memories, when I used to come here with my friends and used to play around in the water. I couldn’t help but faint a smile. I found it some what amusing to see the sand castles that still remained, the ones we built long ago, the lucky few that made it through reckless little boys play. It was dark outside and stars floated in the distance, but the moon seemed so close, I could grab it and take it in my pocket to keep for myself, so close that I could see it's bright shadow shimmering on the rolling water. Ghost crabs darted past my feet like thieves in the night, going in one hole and out another. One of them climbed to my feet, its legs harmlessly piercing through my skin. I shook it off and it quickly escaped to the nearest hole it could find.…

We continued to drive for about thirty more minutes, and I soon realized that we were getting close to the beach. I could smell the salt in the cool breeze of air from my window. It was mixed with the sweet fragrance of food from the boardwalk. When we arrived at our destination, my father checked us into our rooms at the Silver Leaf Resort. I really wasn’t paying too much attention to my surroundings, because I was bursting with excitement wanting to go to the beach. I begged my mother and father till I turned blue saying “please can we go to the beach now.” “Pretty please with sure on top.” My father just looked at me with that solemn face he always has and said “yes, baby girl we can unpack later.” “Now let’s head to the beach.” I screamed like a banshee with excitement and ran to the room and changed into my swim wear. I grabbed my maroon beach towel with my pale and shovel, and my mini purse that contained my shades, bubbles, and sun screen.…

A few months ago, I packed up my mid-western life and moved to the east coast to begin a new job in a town I had never heard of with nobody to call a friend. What I left behind was my family, my friends, my favorite coffee shop, and my yoga studio. This studio was my safe space. It had big open windows with the best kind of morning light that fell in pockets over a beautiful, old, wooden floor.…

As I lay down on the sand, I can clearly see the blue sky filled with cotton balls that are alive, dancing and moving all around. I could see some changing shape from being the face of a young child to being a cute teddy bear or even a mighty dragon. As I close my eyes, I can feel the leaves on me by just listening to the way the breeze gently caressed them. The breeze itself embraced my body with such love that I feel I’m home. I can even hear the waves crashing up against the sharp jagged rocks of the coast line. The rhythmic timing of each wave brings to me a relaxing sensation and makes me to almost fall in a deep sleep. What a great moment.…

As I waltzed on the beach, squishing down the hot buttery-yellow sand that gave off the hot sensation of a burning grill sizzling my feet, I was immediately taken by the scent of freshly sliced fruits and freshly picked flowers. As you move along, brightly colored fruit stalls filled the sidewalks from which fresh fruit is cut. From a fruit stand, the scent travelled all across the beach with the help of the cool breeze which allowed the scent to fill the air. With my eyes closed, I breathed in the ocean bliss that paraded the beach. As I turn towards the sea, I was amazed. It was a deep blue in some areas but in others a glistening turquoise green. As I made my way towards the water as it laps over each time it reaches to the shore, overhead I heard the frantic screech of seagulls like a sharp knife dragged along a glass. As you dive into the deep blue ocean you can feel and taste the chilly, cool and refreshing water surrounding your body as chills ran down my back. Further from the beach there was a volcano that looked like a giant firework to…
