He was a young italian merchant and adventurer who traveled throughout China with his father and uncle. They went across Persia and across the south of the Silk Road. Polo payed close attention across his long journey. Finally after 3 and ½ years the Polos reached the court of Kublai Khan. He sent Marco to represent him on inspection tours around China. After 17 years Marco began his journey home.

During the Yuan Dynasty there was a lot of foreigners and they had more rights then Chinese citizens. The foreigners were then placed in government positions. The Chinese citizens did not like being ruled by the foreigners and they soon rebelled.

They started to place restrictions on the foreigners and people began to attack. The wealth of the buddhists also brought resentment.
