13 years of my life were spent in Tyler, Texas and I thought it’s where I would stay for years on end. Years go by, and the same kids you were in grade school with are now the same kids you are in high school with. You know close to everyone in the grade, you know the ways of the halls, and you swear you could drive the roads blindfolded and backwards. For me, this is the town where I learned every backroad and every deer stand within a 20 mile radius. This was my town, this is the town where “We slip out to the field, climb a tree, shoot a deer. I reminisce about these days, man I get a chill.” In the song “Southern Land” by Taylor Ray Holbrook, he sings about his life being brought up in a small, southern life town.
