SPACE EXPLORATION IS A WASTE OF MONEY
Since man landed on the moon, an appreciable amount of money has been spent on space research and exploration. At the beginning, it would seem that this investigation will give to human beings a great benefit, but is space research a good cause to spend our money? It can be argued that space industry is a completely waste of money.
Firstly, it is undoubtedly that a lot of cash is invested in space research. Moreover, according to CNN resources, in 2012 the government contributed 18,700 dollars towards space investigation and exploration. Most people would agree that the money spent on it could go towards developing renewable energy and improving Humans’ quality of life, or trying to resolve the two principal crises of the Earth: global warming and the economic crisis.
Secondly, there is the issue of Earth itself is not fully explored yet. It would appear that exist more valuable scientific programmes to finance, such as the exploration of our planet. The scientific knowledge which we can find in locations with extreme conditions, like volcanic regions and the Antarctica, apparently offer far more value than space research.
Thirdly, we can presume that if we would have pursued alternative technologic resources with the effort, time and money we had spent in the space program, nowadays we probably would be in better conditions to explore space with better, cheaper, more reliable technology.
Lastly, it would seem that money wasted on space research could be employed to other purposes like ending famine, battling pollution, combatting terminal illnesses, ameliorating the efficiency of our consumption of energy or building developing countries.
In conclusion, it is evident that space exploration is considered to be a valuable investigation, but nowadays our money could be used in projects more required than that one.
