Spanish Peru Personal Statement

I have been studying for Spanish for at least six years, and have been learning the language since I have been able to talk. However, I am still not at my desired level of Spanish. Over the last 4 years my Spanish speaking skills have improved immensely through school. However, through traveling to Latin American countries my Spanish has advanced the most quickly. Being surrounded by the different cultures has had a great impact on my life thus far. Not only have my Spanish skills developed, I have seen different ways of living and seen different aspects of life. I hope to gain a different perspective of the world and develop my conversational skills by studying in Peru. I hope to open my eyes and learn about how our core values differ from the Peruvians. Studying abroad will give me an opportunity to practice Spanish and open my eyes to the world. Peru will show me a different way of living and will teach me lessons that I will not be able to learn studying at North Carolina State University. I am confident that during my time abroad I will strive to excel and create a community in my short time abroad.
By being my best self I hope to make mistakes, get dirty, and try my hardest. Through not being afraid to try new things and applying myself as
I plan to make mistakes, learn from getting dirty, and plunge myself into the culture of Peru. Through making friends and being immersed in a different lifestyle I will set a good example of what it means to be a student at North Carolina State University. Whatever the future may hold I plan to personally grow by studying abroad. I expect I will work hard everyday and not treat my time abroad as a vacation. I aim not only study the textbooks in the classroom, but study the people, places, and culture surrounding me. I am motivated to study abroad to live my dreams and inspire others to do
